Direct Rooms.com – Gather to Harvest Time in Gladysdale in May 2011

Released on: April 08, 2011, 10:27 am
Author: Lek Boonlert
Industry: Food & Beverage

DirectRooms.com is pleased to announce that May Day is the date of the annual Apple and Wine Festival in Gladysdale, Victoria.

The Yarra Valley is well known for its apple orchards and vineyards, and for 26 years Gladysdale has been celebrating the apple harvest and grape-picking season with a day-long event that is perfect for the whole family.

There is something for everyone – free entertainment and games, demonstrations, stalls and displays – and, of course, the apples and wine.

While the kids are enjoying themselves there will be wine tasting for the adults, and the chance to stock up on freshly picked apples and maybe try a new few varieties.

The day kicks off at 10:00 am on the grounds of the Gladysdale Primary School which is just out of town on Little Yarra Road heading towards Powelltown.

As is customary there will be a Grand Raffle, and for the price of a $2.00 ticket some great prizes are up for grabs.

As well as the apples and wine there is other food to sample, such as local cheeses, so the primary school grounds are a delightful venue for a picnic lunch and a chance to sample the Yarra Valley’s harvest delights.

If anyone should be hungry after that there will be Devonshire cream teas to round off the day.

Gladysdale and the lush wine-producing Yarra Valley are just an hour away from Melbourne and the Apple and Wine Festival makes for a perfect day out, especially for those spending the May Day weekend in the city in one of the many excellent Melbourne hotels.
