LateRooms.com - Folk Star Kate Rusby to Perform at Hall for Cornwall

Released on: April 20, 2011, 2:31 pm
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

The Hall for Cornwall is set to welcome one of the biggest names in contemporary British folk music next month.

Kate Rusby will perform at the Truro venue on Wednesday May 4th, giving fans a chance to hear songs from her latest studio album Make the Light.

Released on Pure Records in November last year, the LP was recorded with an all-new band that includes Rusby's husband, the guitarist and banjo player Damien O'Kane.

Make the Light was also the first collection of entirely self-penned songs by the artist, who announced her arrival on the folk scene in 1997 with her debut album Hourglass.

Born and raised in South Yorkshire, the singer was nominated for the Mercury Prize with her second LP Sleepless.

Other acclaimed records include the soundtrack to 2002 British film Heartlands and 2007's Awkward Annie, which was the first album to be produced by Rusby herself.

Loved by fans for her powerful and atmospheric vocals, the 37-year-old is also known for showcasing her engaging wit with plenty of banter between songs when she plays live.

Tickets for the Cornwall gig are now available online, priced between £15 and £19.

Music fans planning to stay at luxury hotels in Cornwall will find a range of options at LateRooms.com, including the Jamaica Inn Cornwall.
