One of Australia's premium sporting events, the Brisbane Racing Carnival (BRC), is set to return to the Queensland capital midway through next month.

The festival boasts a packed five-week programme of racing and entertainment at Doomben and Eagle Farm racecourses.

It kicks off on May 14th 2011 with Racefest, featuring the famous 1,200 metre BTC Cup. Jockeys and horses will be looking to mirror the achievement of previous winners, including last year's champion Albert the Fat and 2008 number one Apache Cat.

After the final race of the day, the Bang Gang Deejays are due to take the stage for a one-hour set.

The BRC runs until June 11th, culminating with the AAMI Stradbroke Day. This curtain-closing event boasts three group one races, which attract the best horses and highest stakes.
