China's only A-category international film festival is set to take place in Shanghai next month.

The International Federation of Film Producers Associations-accredited Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) was established in 1993 and is designed to promote the development of the country's movie-making industry.

It includes four main programmes - competition, SIFF Mart, SIFFORUM and the International Film Panorama (IFP).

The first of these features the Golden Goblet Award, chosen by a jury comprising seven film celebrities from around the world. Barry Levinson, the director of Rain Man, has been lined up to lead the selection panel at the 2011 festival.

Previous jury-members include John Woo, Danny Boyle and Luc Besson.

A selection of Levinson's works will be screened in the Tribute to Masters section.

SIFF Mart is a trade platform for the industry, while SIFFORUM is described by the organisers as the market's most important means of communication.

Movie lovers and the media can find out about the best in new world cinema productions at the IFP.

The festival is set to run from June 11th to 19th.

Film enthusiasts looking for Shanghai hotels at the time of the SIFF can head to AsiaRooms.com and select from a wide range of accommodation in the city, such as the Salvo Hotel Shanghai.

Further details can be found by calling (+86) 21 6253 7115 or visiting www.siff.com.
