AsiaRooms.com - Science and Innovation in the Islamic World on Show in Kuala Lumpur

Released on: May 23, 2011, 7:47 am
Author: AsiaRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

Travellers can explore various historical periods at the Science and Innovation in the Islamic World exhibition at Kuala Lumpur's Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM).

The display is on show until June 30th and shares the way in which scientific disciplines flourished during a number of golden ages in Islamic history.

According to the organisers of the collection, the innovators who spurred on many advances in history are now nameless, with their western counterparts recognising the novelty of their discoveries and refining them.

In a statement on the official IAMM website, they said: "Under the Abbasids of Iraq, Umayyads of Spain, Fatimids of Egypt, Ottomans of Turkey and Mughals of India, advances formed a solid foundation for engineering, medicine, botany, zoology, weaponry, architecture and the visual arts."

As well as this temporary exhibition, the venue boasts a vast selection of artefacts from Islamic history, including textiles, jewellery and armaments.

Admission to the IAMM costs 12 ringgits (£2.45), with the museum opening from 10:00 to 18:00 local time daily. Concessions are available for seniors and students, while the under-sevens can enter for free.

AsiaRooms.com features a vast selection of Kuala Lumpur hotels that may appeal to science enthusiasts, including the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.
