Paris's Centre Pompidou will provide the stage for Rodolphe Burger to perform a tribute to iconic band The Velvet Underground.

He will play on May 26th 2011 and will no doubt cover a number of the band's most famous hits.

The Velvet Underground was first formed in 1964 and their music and image is often cited as being among the most influential in the history of contemporary music, thanks to the artistic talents of Lou Reed, John Cale and manager Andy Warhol.

In a statement, Burger claimed that his life has been saved by the group's music twice, once at the age of ten and again at 20.

The Frenchman went on to say: "With Velvet I discovered that rock was not only for teenagers, but that it could also be contemporary art par excellence."

Tickets for the show cost between €14 and €18 (£12.60 and £16.20), with the music getting started at 20:30 local time.
