LateRooms.com – Discover Repetition is Truth in Naples

Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

An exhibition called Repetition is Truth has opened in Naples, showcasing the work of British artist Rachel Howard.

Part of the Murderme collection, the display features 14 paintings made using household paint and will be on show at the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donna Regina Napoli (Madre) until July 4th 2011.

Howard pours out the liquid on to her canvas and then utilises gravity to help spread it around the page.

In this way, an element of chance is introduced to the creative process.

Commenting on the exhibition on the venue's official website, the organisers said:
"The series is based on the Stations of the Cross but is also a broader commentary on the universality of human rights abuses and people's capability for cruelty towards each other."

Howard was born in County Durham but lives and works in London, having studied at Goldsmiths College.

The Madre is open from 10:30 to 14:30 local time every day, except for Tuesday, when it is closed all day. Admission costs €7 (£6.15).

Anyone keen to reach the arts space on the Metro should alight at Piazza Cavour.

LateRooms.com hosts a huge variety of Naples hotels that may appeal to art enthusiasts, including the Grand Hotel Parkers Naples.

Visit http://www.museomadre.it/ or call the venue on +39 081 193 13 016 to find out more information about the exhibition.
