Holkham Hall in Norfolk will give visitors a chance to get closer to its wildlife this summer.

The 18th century country house has announced plans to hold a Deer Discovery Month throughout June, with the estate's resident deer keeper offering a guided tour of the grounds.

People will have an opportunity to learn about the many fallow and red deer that live in Holkham's parkland, as well as the other local flora and fauna, during an informal 60-minute walk.

Tours are scheduled to take place twice daily on June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th, with tickets priced at £2 for adults. Children can enjoy the experience free of charge.

Those attending the sessions are advised to wear suitable footwear and prepare for all weather conditions. Binoculars, cameras and dogs on leads are all permitted.

Built by the Earl of Leicester, Thomas Coke, Holkham Hall is considered one of the finest examples of the Palladian revival style of architecture in England.

The hall itself is situated two miles west of Wells-next-the-Sea, on the north Norfolk coast.

It is open to visitors on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays between 12:00 and 16:00 BST.

People planning a visit to Norfolk hotels will find a wide range of accommodation at LateRooms.com, which recommends the George Hotel Norfolk.

Visit www.holkham.co.uk for more information on this event.
