Melbourne Recital Centre (MRC) is set to host a performance of The Wanderer by the Seraphim Trio later this month.

The group will take the stage on Friday May 27th and play pieces by Franz Schubert and Johann Nepomuk Hummel.

Highly-acclaimed on the chamber music circuit, the Seraphim Trio have been together since 1994.

Pianist Anna Goldsworthy, violinist Helen Ayres and cellist Timothy Nankervis make up the group, which has performed a number of international tours and regularly makes appearances at Australian music festivals.

In a statement, the organisers of the MRC concert explained: "In their opening concert for the year, the Trio will go wandering with Franz Schubert, from his teenage Sonatensatz to the great Trio in B flat, composed in the last year of his life."

The performance costs AU$45, although there are concessions available. It will begin at 19:00 local time.

To reach the MRC, visitors can take a train to Flinders Street station and then board a tram heading south. There are also several bus services that stop at the venue.

LateRooms.com.au offers a broad selection of last minute accommodation in Melbourne that may appeal to classical music enthusiasts.
