Australia's largest indigenous r'n'b and hip-hop music and dance event will return to Brisbane at the end of next month.

Stylin' Up was created by Brisbane City Council a decade ago as an attempt to connect with youngsters from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

It has enjoyed substantial growth in recent years, with the 2009 edition attracting more than 15,000 attendees and participants from across Brisbane and the surrounding regions.

The list of artists set to appear at the 2011 event has yet to be confirmed, although a number of youth organisations, producers and artists have announced they are taking part.

Rock promoter Cherry Red Music, street dance academy Fresh Elements and community group the Inala Elders will all be present.

An array of free hip-hop dance workshops will be held across Brisbane as part of the festival. Some 1,500 youngsters from south-west Brisbane and a further 300 from regional areas attended these sessions in 2008.

Previous years have involved performances from up-and-coming local bands, basketball competitions, dance contests, craft stalls and more.

Stylin' Up is set to take place on May 28th.

Music and dance fanatics looking for Brisbane hotels can find a large selection of cheap accommodation in the city at LateRooms.com.au.
