LateRooms.com - Top Tennis Stars to Clash at French Open in Paris

Rafael Nadal will hope his clay court invincibility remains intact when he defends his French Open title at Roland Garros in Paris.

The Grand Slam event was won by the Spaniard in 2010 during a two-year unbeaten streak on this type of court, but Novak Djokovic recently brought that record to an end at the Madrid Masters.

Nadal will still be one of the favourites at the French Open, but competitors will believe there is a chance he can be defeated.

Djovokic will certainly fancy his chances, given that he is on an enviable run of form in 2011.

In the 2010 ladies' competition, it was the Italian Francesca Schiavone who emerged victorious, while the Williams sisters took the female doubles prize and the men's doubles was won by Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic.

Qualifying for the 2011 event begins on May 17th, with the first round starting on May 22nd. Details of the draw will be published on May 20th.

The ladies' singles final will take place on June 4th, while the men contest the title the following day.

Tickets for the competition are available online, with prices ranging from €17 up to €110 (£14.95 to £96.80) for individual passes.

LateRooms.com offers a huge number of Paris hotels that may appeal to tennis enthusiasts, including the Hotel Bastille Paris.
