Acclaimed art rockers TV on the Radio are heading to the German capital later this month.

Their show at Berlin's Astra Kulturhaus on Friday June 24th will precede appearances at Glastonbury and several other major European festivals, giving fans a chance to see the Brooklyn-based band in more intimate surroundings.

TV on the Radio hit the road earlier this year in support of their fourth studio album Nine Types of Light, which was released on April 11th.

Following on from their 2008 LP breakthrough Dear Science, the record was widely praised by critics for its typically inventive take on themes associated with the traditional love song.

Just nine days after Nine Types of Light was released, the band were stunned by the death of bassist Gerard Smith.

The musician, who joined the group as a full-time member in 2005, passed away at the age of 34 following a battle with lung cancer.

In a statement released online, remaining members Tunde Adebimpe, David Sitek, Kyp Malone and Jaleel Bunton paid tribute to their "beloved friend and bandmate".

Smith's memory is sure to live on for many years through the music of TV on the Radio, which German fans can enjoy by heading to the gig at the Astra Kulturhaus.

Tickets for the show are available to purchase online, priced at €24 (£21.10) plus booking fee. Doors are due to open at 20:00 local time.
