Author: AsiaRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

A cremation ceremony will be held for Ibu Anak Agung Niang Rai - AA Niang Rai - next month in Bali, with residents and travellers alike set to pay their respects to the royal figure.

She was the mother of the prince of Ubud and as a result is honoured with a huge occasion to commemorate her passing on August 18th.

Her son, Artha Ardhana Tjokorda Oka Sukawati - commonly referred to as Cok Ace - is the Gianyar Regent.

Cok Ace, who came to power in 2006, has sought to maintain the region's traditions while making academic and cultural advances.

Gianyar is a regency in Bali and is the second most densely populated area of the island, boasting the lively and artistic town of Ubud where the cremation will be staged.

People should note that the traffic going through the area will be very slow due to the number of people attending the ceremony.

The event will be held at Ubud Palace from 11:00 local time. It is free to attend.

If travellers attending the service require accommodation, they can browse a generous selection of Bali hotels on AsiaRooms.com, including the Jayakarta Bali.

For more information about the event, visit www.gianyarkab.go.id.
