Hong Kong's arts scene has been injected with renewed vibrancy by the International Arts Carnival 2011, which kicked off on Friday July 8th and will run until Sunday August 14th.

For over a month, the city will host a veritable smorgasbord of events, performances and treats for all the family. Tourists will be able to enjoy the cultural events and sample the very best Hong Kong has to offer.

As well as traditional Asian events, there will be a chance for festival-goers to enjoy artistic traditions from countries all over the world, including Denmark, Canada, Australia, France and the Netherlands.

The festival was launched by Russia's Moscow Circus on Ice, which took place at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre.

That performance set the tone for the remainder of the festival, which will include a wide range of programmes such as dance, musical performances, visual theatre, masked theatre, physical comedy and multimedia puppetry.

A range of cultural tours, activities-based workshops and free exhibitions will also be on offer.

The events are packaged into different sections, such as ABC, Come and See, which is aimed at children aged between three and six. The Hearts Linked section is suitable for all members of the family and the New Generation Series is targeted at teenagers.

AsiaRooms.com recommends a diverse selection of Hong Kong hotels that could appeal to festival-goers, including the Kings De Nathan.

Visit www.hkiac.gov.hk/2011/en/prog/index.html for more information on this event.
