Work by major artists such as Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and Richard Wright forms part of a new exhibition in Hong Kong entitled Made in England: Contemporary Art from the British Council Collection: 1980-2010.

On show at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum until October 9th 2011, the display includes pieces by 35 different people who have made a significant contribution to Britain's artistic output.

Gilbert and George, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Boyd Webb and Angela de la Cruz are a few more of the famous creators whose work can be viewed.

In a statement, the organisers explained that the number of dramatic social changes over the past 30 years has helped shape British art.

"Gifted with an acute sensitivity and empathy for social issues, contemporary artists created works that depicted the changing faces of British society in this shifting climate," they added.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is open from Wednesday to Monday, closing at 18:00 local time every day except Sunday and any public holidays, when the building is open until 19:00.

Admission costs HK$10 (80 pence).

AsiaRooms.com recommends a wide range of Hong Kong hotels that could appeal to art fanatics, including the Kings De Nathan.
