Singapore's Esplanade Concert Hall will provide the stage for a performance by celebrated Russian-born pianist Nikolai Demidenko.

The 56-year-old Moscow Gnessin School and Moscow Conseratoire graduate will play alongside the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on Saturday July 16th.

He is set to perform a programme that includes two pieces by the late Singaporean composer Leong Yoon Pin.

Demidenko, who has lived in Britain since 1990, will also play Sergei Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto and the Third Symphony by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Granted British citizenship in 1995, the pianist has taught at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the University of Surrey.

He has won a number of accolades over the years, including the Gramophone award in 1992 and medals at the 1976 Montreal International Piano Competition and 1978 Tchaikovsky International Competition.

For fans who want to find out more about the performance, there will be a post-show chat with conductor Lan Shui.

Tickets start from S$15 and the concert is due to begin at 19:30 local time.

To reach the arts centre, take the MRT to City Hall or Esplanade station.
