AsiaRooms.com - Underground Artists Prepare for Seoul Fringe Festival

Released on: July 21, 2011, 12:17 pm
Author: AsiaRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

The Seoul Fringe Festival offers visitors a fascinating blend of visual art, theatre, dance, music and multimedia on the streets of the city.

Now in its 14th year, the event was created to provide a showcase for the South Korean capital's vibrant underground arts scene.

The 2011 edition is due to run from Thursday August 11th to Saturday August 27th, taking place at venues throughout downtown Seoul and the Hongik University campus.

Although the full programme for this year's festival is yet to be released, previous versions have kicked off with an opening parade featuring performers from the Korea Mime Council.

The schedule is usually divided into two sections, with a series of indoor performances complemented by an outdoor street art programme that runs for the duration of the festival.

All outdoor events are free to attend, while tickets for the indoor shows are priced between 5,000 won and 20,000 won (£2.90 and £11.70).

Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the events, with special discounts available for groups of more than ten people.

Festival-goers can visit AsiaRooms.com for a wide range of recommended Seoul hotels, including the IP Boutique Hotel Itaewon.
