This year marks a decade since the terrorist attacks on the
USA. New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington were
both targets on that day, and this exhibition at London's Imperial War
Museum focuses on the terrible aftermath left by the former.
The display, created by photographer Francesc Torres, is entitled 'Memory Remains:
9/11 Artefacts at Hangar 17', and will be displayed at the museum in Lambeth from
August 26th until February 26th.
Its title stems from the use of Hangar 17 at New York's JFK Airport as a storage
unit for the material pulled from the wreckage of the buildings. These items range
from the personal belongings of those killed to actual pieces from the doomed
aircraft.
All are featured in Torres' thought-provoking collection, which granted him
unprecedented access to the hangar and the artefacts involved.
As well as London, the exhibition will also visit the International Centre for
Photography in New York and Barcelona's Centre de Cultura Contempornia.
Hotels-London.co.uk can offer a selection of hotels near London City Airport for easy access to the exhibition. Radisson Edwardian New Providence Wharf is just one of the establishments available for
booking.
