When legendary Ethiopian runner Haile Gebreselassie decides a
race is worth running, that must mean it's a good one. Arguably the
greatest long distance runner of all time, Gebreselassie won the 2005
race, naturally setting a course record of 28 minutes and 12 seconds in
doing so.
The race's prestige secure, last year's event saw Ruben Iindogo and the UK's
Getenesh Tamirat come out on top in a field of over 25,000 runners.
This year's race takes place on July 10th, and begins at Hyde Park Corner, and
covers much of the planned marathon route for next summer's Olympics as it takes in
St James's Street, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge,
the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street, before hitting the finish line in the
poignant location of the Cenotaph.
The race is open to both serious athletes and fun runners, and this year's race
charity is the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Whether you are a competitor or a spectator, Hotels-London.co.uk has plenty of accommodation options across the city, with many London City Airport hotels providing a convenient location at the heart of Docklands. Radisson Edwardian New Providence Wharf is just one of many options here.
