The Frankenheim Kino offers people visiting Dusseldorf the chance to watch films in a picturesque open-air setting on the banks of the Rhine.

It promises a unique movie-going experience, with guests invited to enjoy a spectacular view of the city's Altstadt skyline before they settle into their seats.

From Thursday July 21st to Sunday August 21st, the outdoor cinema on the Rheinterrasse will be showing a diverse programme of movies designed to cater to all tastes.

This summer's line-up includes The King's Speech, True Grit, Black Swan, The Hangover 2, Kung Fu Panda 2, Inception and Bad Teacher.

There will also be a chance for film fans to see Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and catch the final instalment in the record-breaking Harry Potter franchise.

As well as the best of Hollywood's recent output, the selection features cult movies and select independent titles from Germany.

The programme will open with a premiere screening of Arschkalt, a German comedy-drama directed by Andre Erkau.

Standard tickets for all film showings at the Frankenheim Kino can be purchased in advance, priced at €11 (£9.60).

There is also an option for people to book seats in the Lufthansa business lodge, where they will be treated to a grandstand view of the movie and exclusive catering, for €69.
