Several premieres are included in the Gandules 2011 Action outdoor cinema series, which this year focuses on the power of money and the way it changes people and places.

The screenings will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona (CCCB) from August 2nd to 18th.

Alongside Spanish premieres of movies such as Tokyo Sonata by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Children of the Beehive by Hiroshi Shimizu, there will be a host of classic cinematic treats, including Jean-Luc Godard's Vivre Sa Vie.

The organisers explained in a statement: "This is a cycle on ordinary people and small communities, viewed from the popular, poetic and chaotic intensity of cinema as subversion against the way money stifles freedom of individuals."

It is free to enter, but there is limited capacity so visitors are advised to get to the CCCB well before the films begin at 22:00 local time.

The closest Metro stops are Catalunya and Universitat, but several buses also cover the area.
