LateRooms.com - The Art of Paper Now on Show in Paris

Released on: July 29, 2011, 9:45 am
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

An intriguing new exhibition entitled The Art of Paper is currently on display at Paris's Le Louvre, exploring the role of the material in the creative process.

Running until September 5th 2011, the collection looks at how paper can influence the nuances of a picture and highlights some of the innovative ways artists have utilised it.

In a statement, the organisers described how some of the work on show at the exhibition dates back as far as the 15th century.

"Organised in five sections, it illustrates the essential role of paper in the art of drawing and demonstrates the range of its aesthetic potential, be it white, coloured, transparent, oiled, ribbed, watermarked, cut, torn, distressed or recycled," they explained.

The display can be found in the Sully Wing, on the first floor of the Salle de la Chapelle.

Entrance is included in the price of general admission to Le Louvre, which costs €10 (£8.90).

The museum is open every day except Tuesday - when it is closed - from 09:00 to 17:45 local time, apart from Wednesday and Friday, when the facility does not shut until 21:45.

LateRooms.com offers a vast selection of Paris hotels that may appeal to art enthusiasts, such as the Hotel Bastille Paris.
