The Bhumiphol Dam International Mountain Bike Racing event offers cyclists the chance to go biking in a stunning location in Thailand.

Running from August 27th to 29th, the occasion is split into six categories to allow people to choose how much they want to push their bodies.

Attendees can pick from the 60km long-distance route, 39km international race, 24km amateur race, 16km family challenge, 10km tour biking expedition and 5km ride that takes participants across the crest of the dam.

According to the organisers, the event is popular with both tourists and locals and has now been going for more than five years.

In a statement, they remarked: "Each year, mountain bikers gather at one of Thailand's most scenic dams for a series of mountain bike races and other fun activities."

As well as the cycling action during the day, visitors can enjoy the music of the Bhumiphol Dam Youth Club, sightseeing expeditions and children's activities relating to environmental concerns.

The Bhumipol Dam, formerly known as the Yanhee Dam, is located on the Ping River in Tak Province.

It was officially opened in 1964 and is named after King Bhumiphol Adulyadej, the current monarch in Thailand.
