The Ibis Koh Samui Trophy 2011 adventure race event is to take place in Thailand for three days from September 17th.

Organised by Active Management Asia (AMA) in association with Ibis Hotels, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Tourism Association of Koh Samui and the Thai Hotel Association of Koh Samui, the event will see more than 100 teams from around the world taking part.

Adventure racing is a highly active and dynamic sporting genre that combines the disciplines of running, cycling, kayaking and swimming, with the race to start and finish on the picturesque Bophut beach.

Asian teams from China, Hong Kong and Singapore are expected to be competing with local champions, including Saman Gunnan and Seree Ruansiri, winners of last year's race.

Conducted alongside the Ibis Koh Samui Trophy 2011 will be a fun run for children and families, which is aimed at promoting the sport among youngsters.

This is one of a number of adventure race events that AMA organises in Thailand, with others taking place in the Bangkok and River Kwai areas.
