Tennis enthusiasts will be descending on Bangkok next month to see all the action taking place at the PTT Thailand Open 2011.

The prestigious competition is entering its ninth year as part of the ATP Tour in 2011 and will see some of the best players in the world taking part from September 24th to October 2nd.

British number one Andy Murray will be the highest ranking player to compete in Bangkok and will be hoping to improve on his last appearance in 2006, which saw him defeated by fellow Brit Tim Henman.

Other marquee players confirmed for the event include Robin Soderling, Gilles Simon and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, with more big names to be announced in the coming weeks.

Last year's victor was Garcia-Lopez, who recorded a shock victory over compatriot Rafael Nadal en route to the final.

This year's PTT Thailand Open will be held at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, with players competing for a prize pot of $644,500 (£390,900).

The cheapest tickets for the event range from 300 baht (£6.10) for qualifying rounds to 800 baht for the final.

Lovers of tennis can choose from a large selection of Bangkok hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Twin Towers Hotel.

A full set of details about the upcoming tournament can be found at www.thailandopen.org.
