The Australian men's and women's basketball teams will face off against their New Zealand counterparts in Brisbane next month at the FIBA Oceania Championships.

Australia's top male and female teams - nicknamed the Boomers and Opals respectively - are set to meet the Tall Blacks in a unique double-header event at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The Brisbane games will take place on Friday September 9th, with the Opals set to take the court at 17:15 local time, followed by the Boomers v New Zealand clash at 19:00.

Melbourne's State Netball Hockey Centre and Sydney Entertainment Centre are also due to stage fixtures in the three-match series.

Adult tickets start at AU$22, while three to 15-year-olds can get in for AU$15.

Larry Sengstock, chief executive of Basketball Australia, said: "It is a unique opportunity for Australian sports fans to get behind both the men's and women's teams and we believe there will be strong support from the public."

Brisbane Entertainment Centre is located 16 km from the central business district (CBD) and can be reached by taking a train to the nearby Boondall Railway Station.

Basketball fans looking for last minute accommodation in the city can find a huge choice of Brisbane CBD hotels at LateRooms.com.au, including a large number of hotels near Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

More information on the matches can be found at www.brisent.com.au.
