Electronic music pioneer Gary Numan is set to perform live in Bournemouth later this year.

The former Tubeway Army frontman will play the south coast resort's O2 Academy on Friday September 16th in support of his forthcoming new album Dead Son Rising.

Due out on September 5th, the limited edition LP is expected to feature a mixture of new songs, instrumental tracks and exclusive remixes.

Numan is known for hits such as Are 'Friends' Electric? and Cars, which topped the charts in 1979 and paved the way for a host of new wave acts inspired by the artist's synthesiser-based sound and robotic stage persona.

In more recent years, the London-born singer has favoured an industrial rock sound and used live instruments.

His new album will be the first since his 2006 release Jagged, which saw Numan collaborate with techno musician and DJ Ade Fenton.

Tickets to see the iconic performer in Bournemouth are available online, priced at£20 plus booking fee. Doors are due to open at 19:00 BST.
