Canadian rock icon Bryan Adams is heading to Melbourne next month for two shows at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda.

Adams, who is perhaps best known for the hit single Summer of '69, first toured Australia back in 1984 as support on The Police's sold-out run of stadium gigs.

Although he can now sell out major venues on his own with ease, the singer-songwriter's upcoming Australian concerts will see him take the stage at intimate venues across the country.

He will perform solo at the upcoming shows, which come in support of his latest album Bare Bones. The record highlights Adams's distinctive voice and guitar playing, accompanied by Gary Breit on keyboard.

Although he is foregoing a backing band for the tour, Adams will still play some of his best-known tracks, meaning fans can look forward to hearing the likes of Heaven, Cuts Like a Knife and Run to You.

Tickets for the Palais Theatre gigs, which will take place on Thursday September 15th and Friday September 16th, range in price from AU$94.05 to AU$140.59. Doors at the venue are due to open at 19:30 local time.

Fans can reach the theatre by catching the number 16, 79 or 96 trams to St Kilda Beach.
