LateRooms.com - YAP MAXXI Debuts in Rome

Industry: Travel

The first ever Italian edition of the Young Architects Program has launched in Rome entitled YAP MAXXI, as it is being held in the prestigious art gallery of the same name.

Running until August 28th 2011, the exhibition displays the results of a competition designed to offer young designers the chance to show their creativity.

In a statement on the venue's official website, the organisers revealed that a key objective of the show is to highlight environmental protection issues.

"Each year YAP, which in New York has reached its 12th edition, invites emerging architects to design an installation capable of providing a space for the museum's summer events programme and an area with 'shade, water and repose' for visitors," they explained.

The project has been organised in partnership with the Museum of Modern Art, with both exhibitions launching simultaneously earlier this summer.

Opening hours at the MAXXI are from 11:00 local time daily, except for Monday when it is shut. The facility closes at 22:00 on Thursday and Saturday, and 19:00 every other day.

Admission costs €11 (£9.60).

If architecture enthusiasts are keen to find 5 star hotels in Rome, they can use LateRooms.com to browse a huge variety of luxury accommodation, including the Sheraton Roma Rome.
