A feast of cultural activities will be commencing in South Korea next month with the launch of the 2011 Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF).

Beginning on September 28th, the event will involve a total of 36 performances from artists hailing from eight countries, running through to the end of October.

Dance, theatre and multidisciplinary shows will be put on by companies from countries such as France, Germany, Australia, Italy and Japan as well as Korea itself, with the event representing one of the nation's leading performing arts festivals.

Shows will be held throughout the month at Arko Arts Theater, Daehango Arts Theater, Sogang University Mary Hall and Seoul Station, while Hanguk Performing Arts Center will be responsible for hosting and organising.

This year, the festival will begin with a German dance performance called Megalopolis, which examines city living, while the graceful Italian dance show La Natura Delle Cose will conclude the programme.

English subtitles will be provided for a number of theatre performances, while the dance acts can be enjoyed without the interference of any language barrier.

Culture vultures can view a large selection of Seoul hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the IP Boutique Hotel Itaewon.

More information on the festival can be found at www.spaf.or.kr/2011english/.
