AsiaRooms.com - Ubud Writers and Readers Festival coming to Bali

Released on: September 02, 2011, 12:02 pm
Author: AsiaRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

People visiting Bali in October 2011 will be given a chance to interact with leading international authors at the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.

The annual event, which is now in its eighth year, will be taking place in the Ubud region and will see 125 different writers convening to give a series of talks, lectures and workshops on their craft.

Writers from all corners of the globe - from up-and-coming authors to established names - will be taking part, including participants from China, the US, France, Japan, Egypt, Australia and South Africa, as well as local Indonesian talent.

The UK will be represented by four authors, including Alexander McCall Smith, creator of The No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.

Organised by the charitable foundation Yayasan Mudra Swari Saraswati, the event has been taking place each year since 2004 and was originally conceived as a healing project following the first Bali bombing.

Four-day passes can be obtained by international visitors for 2.85 million rupiah (£205.10), while single-day passes are available for 420,000 rupiah.

Lovers of literature can choose from a large range of Bali hotels at AsiaRooms.com, such as the Jayakarta Bali.

Those wishing to attend can find out more at www.ubudwritersfestival.com/.
