Visitors to Prague in October will be able to take in a performance of Giuseppe Verdi's timeless opera Aida at the National Theatre.

The classic tale of love, jealousy and betrayal in ancient Egypt is to be staged at the venue on October 20th 2011, with proceedings to commence at 19:00 local time and run for three hours.

Originally performed in 1871, the opera centres on the Egyptian chieftain Radames, who finds himself drawn to a slave girl called Aida, while contending with the jealousy of Princess Amneris.

The National Theatre Opera will be staging a classical production of the show, with director Steffen Piontek and conductor Zbynek Muller aiming to highlight the beauty of its melodies and arias.

Oleg Kulko will play the role of Radames with Jolana Fogasova and Anda-Louise Bogza portraying Amneris and Aida respectively, while the King of Egypt will be played by Miloslav Podskalsky.

Attendees can expect to see the opera performed in its original Italian version, with subtitles in Czech and English to be provided.

The cheapest tickets can be purchased for 50 koruna (£1.80), with higher-calibre seats also available for prices of up to 1,050 koruna.

A wide selection of hotels in Prague can be found by music lovers at LateRooms.com, including the Eurostars Thalia Prague.

More information about the opera and venue can be found at www.narodni-divadlo.cz/.
