Zendor Wins Woolworths Fulfilment Contract

Released on = January 11, 2005, 4:22 am

Press Release Author = The Scott Partnership

Industry = Real Estate

Press Release Summary = Zendor, the Manchester-based fulfilment expert, has won a two-year contract with Woolworths. Under the terms of the contract, Zendor will be fulfilling orders via Woolworths’ online channel www.woolworths.co.uk and retail
catalogues. Woolworths is aiming to generate a significant portion of its retail sales online by 2007, and the appointment of Zendor is intended to facilitate this online growth strategy. Zendor has both the capacity and scalability to cope with the anticipated growth in online orders.

Press Release Body = Zendor will be establishing a robust and fully integrated fulfilment infrastructure comprising warehousing, home delivery, returns and marketing consultancy services. The fulfilment infrastructure will be integrated with Woolworths’ call centre and front-end e-commerce operation, managed by Woolworths’ sister company and online retailer, Streets Online. This operation will
support sales of Woolworths’ distance shopping product range.

Zendor will also be fulfilling orders via Woolworths’ retail catalogues, which are distributed in-store as well as in magazines and newspapers. These catalogues allow customers to order products directly by telephone.

Following an in-depth pitching process, Zendor was awarded the fulfilment contract in September 2004 after Woolworths was impressed with the Company’s experience and credibility in the retail industry as well as its professionalism and integrity.

Geoff O’Neill, Woolworths Head of Logistics explains: “With our online growth strategy in operation, this is an exciting but challenging time for Woolworths. We had to be sure to select a fulfilment provider with the capacity and capabilities to
smoothly fulfil the orders from our website and catalogue channels. From our initial contact with their Account Director, James Lewis, we were impressed with Zendor’s years of experience in the retail industry together with their impressive reputation. This persuaded us to appoint the Company as our fulfilment partner and we are confident that Zendor will help us to achieve our strategic objectives in the run-up to 2007.”
