AsiaRooms.com - Perspectives Film Festival Coming to Singapore

Released on: October 7, 2011, 2:27 pm
Author: AsiaRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

The annual Perspectives Film Festival is to return to Singapore at the end of this month in order to showcase a series of incendiary and much-discussed films.

Running from October 27th to 30th, the theme of this year's festival is Breakthroughs in Cinema, offering a selection of movies that were considered controversial at the time of release, but have since been accepted as powerful social commentaries.

The series commences with the 1966 war film The Battle of Algiers on October 27th, with a screening of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece A Clockwork Orange - which was banned in the UK for decades - following on the 28th.

October 29th will feature showings of Thailand's Syndromes and a Century, the award-winning Czech Dream and The Blue Kite, a scathing commentary on life in communist China.

The festival concludes on the 30th with the Japanese film Caterpillar, an often disturbing meditation on nationalism and gender politics in the Asian nation.

Those wishing to attend can purchase tickets for the screenings for S$10 (£5) each, with a discounted rate of S$8 available to students and senior citizens.

Cineastes can find a wide variety of Singapore hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Fragrance Hotel.

Additional details about the festival can be located at www.perspectivesfilmfestival.com/festival.php.
