LateRooms.com - Enjoy Handel's Messiah at Lake District Venue

Released on: October 17, 2011, 4:52 pm
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

The timeless strains of Handel's Messiah are set to echo around the Theatre by the Lake for the first time next month.

Sunday November 13th will see the Keswick Choral Society and the Northern Chamber Orchestra perform the German composer's famously passionate oratorio at the Keswick venue, with tickets now available.

Conducted by Ian Hare, the choral group is set to bring Handel's much-loved work to life through a quartet of talented young soloists.

Soprano Eleanor Dennis, contralto Katie Emily Bray, tenor Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts and bass Duncan Rock will lend their voices to a composition that is often performed in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The show is due to begin at 19:30 GMT. Tickets can be purchased online, with prices ranging from £10 to £18.

Written by Handel in 1741 and premiered the following year, Messiah received a modest public reception after its early performances but grew in popularity during the 19th century to become the composer's most famous work.

Music lovers considering a stay in Lake District hotels can browse a wide variety of options at LateRooms.com, which recommends Storrs Gate House in Windermere.
