The Manchester Comedy Festival returns to the city for the 11th time later this month.

With top names such as Edinburgh Festival favourite Richard Herring, The Office co-writer Stephen Merchant and Mock the Week regular Andy Parsons due to appear, the two-week festival promises something for all comedy fans.

It was set up in 2011 to celebrate Manchester's famously vibrant comedy circuit and give a platform to emerging acts from the surrounding region.

Launching on October 17th, the event will feature more than 200 shows at roughly 30 venues spread across the city, including Manchester Town Hall, the Comedy Store and the MEN Arena.

Other stars featured in the line-up include Bolton funnyman Peter Kay, Welsh comic Rob Brydon and Adam Buxton, who will bring his acclaimed BUG show to a venue outside London for the first time.

Fans of Tommy Tiernan and Paddy McGuinness will also be pleased to see the comics included on the roster of performers.

The price of tickets ranges from £5 for smaller acts up to £35 for shows featuring the biggest stars.
