Hong Kong is set to become the place to be for golf fans this December when the UBS Hong Kong Open Championship 2011 gets underway.

The prestigious annual tournament will be held at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling between December 1st and 4th and will see some of the most high-profile players in the world as part of the European Tour.

Among the confirmed participants for this year's competition are Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Matteo Manassero and Justin Rose, while local interest will be added by 17-year-old Hong Kong resident Shinichi Mizuno.

The Hong Kong Open is the oldest professional sporting event in the Chinese city, having taken place regularly since 1959, while prize funds will total almost $3 million (£1.9 million).

Tickets to see the tournament are available online now, with entry prices ranging from HK$120 (£9.70) on the Thursday and Friday to HK$300 on the final Sunday.
