Hundreds of dancers will be heading to Amsterdam at the end of the year for Tangomagia, the city's annual tango festival.

Due to run from Monday December 26th to Friday December 30th, the event features dance workshops for people of all abilities, performances by tango maestros from around the world and much more.

For the first time this year, the programme will also include the MagiaMarathon - a 38-hour dance event commencing at 18:00 local time on December 27th.

Elsewhere, people can visit the daily Tango Cafe and attend nightly salon events featuring top dancers, live musicians and DJs.

According to the organisers, Amsterdam will be transformed into "Buenos Aires on the Amstel" during the festival, with tango dancers from around the world coming together to celebrate the famous style that originated in Argentina and Uruguay.

Renowned dance pairings such as Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, and Sebastian Coli Bazzini and Marijke de Vries will be among those taking part this year.

Workshops are priced at €29 or €33 (£24.75 or £28.10), with discounts available for those who book several at once.

LateRooms.com recommends a wide variety of hotels in Amsterdam that could appeal to tango fans, including the five-star Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel.
