Industry: Education

This month Bristol Language Centre staff and students prepare to have a laugh as the city welcomes comedians and slapstick enthusiasts from across the globe to the eighth Bristol Slapstick Festival, a unique and popular event in the city's calendar.

The festival runs from 26 to 29 January and includes talks, film presentations, and a gala night hosted by television comedian Griff Rhys Jones. Another celebrity guest includes Terry Jones from comedy consortium Monty Python and Sanjeev Bhaskar from Goodness Gracious Me. For anyone wanting an in-depth education in English humor as well as the English language, Bristol is the perfect destination.

Over the past decade Bristol has become a major cultural destination, and host to international arts events and festivals at venues across the city. International students at the Bristol Language Centre come to the city because of its history, international connections, transport links, and business opportunities. They stay because of the chance to study at the city's two universities, and because Bristol is one of the most affordable and vibrant cities in the UK.

The Bristol Language Centre is accredited by the British Council and has UK Borders Agency Highly Trusted status for the purpose of visa requirements. The centre's highly professional staff is well-trained to support and advise students as they make further study and career choices.

The full range of courses at Bristol Language Centre include daytime courses and evening courses, so students can fit their studies around work experience or professional commitments. The centre's website at www.blc-english.co.uk has all the details of courses from General English to Business English, with an emphasis on International communication. Teacher Training at BLC English is another option and includes a combination of distance learning and attendance at the centre.
