Indianapolis, IN, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Follas Center for Reproductive Medicine has announced a new option for infertile patients who have a decreased ovarian reserve, or who have been identified as poor responders in a previous In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycle. As the baby boomer generation ages, more infertile women are finding themselves classified as low-responders, and until now have had a very dismal prediction for pregnancy. These patients are typically given one of four options: use donor eggs, use donor embryos, adopt, or cease trying to conceive.

At the Follas Center, Dr. David McLaughlin has recommended a new option to help these women conceive using their own eggs. In general, a milder ovarian stimulation is pursued, as there will be fewer eggs available to make embryos. However, to maximize the number of follicles containing eggs available for retrieval, the medical procedure for ovulation induction may include additional male and/or growth hormones, but with fewer injections, ultrasounds, and serum monitoring.

For $1,499 the eggs are painlessly retrieved under general anesthesia in the Follas Center. Once Fertilization has occurred, all the embryos are cryopreserved. In a subsequent, non-stimulated cycle, the embryos are replaced via Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). Though additional costs are incurred once embryos are formed and frozen, if no eggs are retrieved the maximum cost for monitoring, retrieval, lab, anesthesia and facility fees are capped at $1,499.

This exciting, new alternative to traditional donor egg cycles saves patients a substantial amount of cost, while offering them the chance to conceive with their own eggs. Early research indicates nearly doubling the implantation rate, depending on the individual patient's FSH level.

The Follas Center offers free IVF consultations to interested patients. Their office can be contacted at (317) 774-1200, or online at info@thefollascenter.com.
