Kate Moss’s favourite app among the exhibits at the Design Museum’s annual showcase for groundbreaking designs.

LONDON, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- London's Design Museum has announced the dates for its annual competition and exhibition to celebrate the most original designs from across the globe. Designs Of The Year will take place between 26th Match and 25th August at the Design Museum's location in Shad Thames, close to Tower Bridge in one of London's most evocative areas. Shad Thames is close to the City and Canary Wharf so is surrounded by great accommodation to suit all pockets. Those looking for hotels in London should visit LondonTown.com, where information about the latest room rates is being constantly updated.

Designs included in the Designs Of The Year exhibition will be Kate Moss's favourite app, a floating school in a Nigerian lagoon, friendly lamp posts and a recoiling mudguard for the discerning cyclist. Categories for the competition include architecture, digital, fashion, furniture, graphic, product and transport and all of the nominations are represented at the Designs of the Year exhibition, where you will be able to see a customisable car, play a new musical instrument and encounter a rescue drone.

This year's nominees include international design stars such as Zaha Hadid, John Pawson, Stephen Jones, David Chipperfield and Miuccia Prada, alongside crowd-funded start ups and student projects. A distinguished panel of experts chose a winner from each category and one overall winner, to be announced later in the year. Visitors can also pick their favourite designs and there is also a Social Vote platform for those who follow the Design Museum on Twitter or Facebook. The museum is open every day between 10am and 5.45pm and there is a charge of £12.40 for adults.
