South Bend, IN, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- American Green Technology® (AGT), a world class leader in energy efficient induction lighting technologies, recently installed their Arcalux® Health Risk Management System (HRMS) at Circuit of the Americas’ (COTA) state-of-the-art medical facility. More than one million members and guests visit COTA annually for major events, such as MotoGP™, Formula 1™ racing, ESPN’s X Games, live concerts in the award-winning Austin360 Amphitheater, and hundreds of business, educational, community and social events. COTA is the first world-class motorsports and entertainment venue to feature the Arcalux® HRMS in their on-site medical center. The HRMS is a unique lighting system designed to eliminate pathogens which cause Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs). According to the World Health Organization, HAIs are contracted by hundreds of millions of people every year.

COTA’s 5,500-square foot medical center offers paramedic services during major sporting events and EMS and medical student training during the year. COTA’s medical facility is designed to handle everything from trauma care to routine maladies, such as sun burn and insect bites.

“The entire Circuit of The Americas facility is top notch, and COTA’s medical facility provides on-site emergency medical care to both sporting participants and spectators,” said Corporate Communications Director for AGT, Meredith Jimenez. “We are proud to provide the HRMS to COTA’s medical facility, equipping medical staff with an extra layer of protection designed to keep patients safe. The HRMS eliminates 99.7% of dangerous airborne pathogens that cause HAIs like MRSA and Staph.”

“Millions of people attend Circuit of The Americas marquee sports and entertainment events each year, and providing first-class medical care to those who may need it is a top priority,” said COTA Vice President of Public and Media Relations Julie Loignon. “AGT’s Arcalux HRMS helps us protect athletes and fans who may seek emergency medical care while in our venue. This special lighting technology is a great addition to our on-site medical facility.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), infections can occur in all types of facilities including hospitals, outpatient care and surgery centers, dialysis clinics, and nursing homes. Every year 2 million people acquire infections that are resistant to antibiotics.

The Arcalux® HRMS is designed to use differential pressure, filtration, purification and dilution, to simultaneously and unobtrusively neutralize pathogens (including bacteria, viruses and fungi) 24 hours a day, at room level, and the system requires only simple, annual maintenance. Employing the CDC’s recommended hierarchy of defense, the HRMS is designed to eliminate pathogens at the source, enhance patient outcomes and significantly reduce administrative, clinical and operational costs.
