Rockville, Maryland, January 26, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Baying Hound Aleworks is pleased to announce that on Friday, February 6th, our award-winning beer will be available in cans for the first time. For the past four and a half years, the brewery has been packaging its beer in 22 oz. bottles and we believe that the switch to cans offers substantial benefits to our customers.

Paul Rinehart, founder of the brewery said, “Canning is much better for the beer. There is no chance of light infection and the cans protect the beer from oxidation. Cans also chill a lot faster.” Rinehart also stated that canning is better for the environment, “Cans require less energy to recycle than bottles.”

The first release in cans will be “DC Originators Ale—a delicious wheat pale ale with a bit of a Belgian twist. The ale will be available in 16 oz. cans and will be sold both as singles and as four packs. “We are very proud of this brew which was a collaboration between Baying Hound Aleworks and a local ska band called “The Originators,” says Rinehart. The brewery anticipates that “DC Originators Ale” will be available in area stores in Montgomery County as well as in restaurants and at the brewery by mid February.

In addition, storefronts can now place their orders directly through the brewery and no longer have to rely on the Department of Liquor Control. These developments are due to recent legislative changes and our new self-distribution license. “These changes in packaging and distribution should insure that a high quality, more consistent and convenient product is made increasingly available to our customers,” states Rinehart. “Good beer and good friends have always been the basis of our business.”
