-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The London Olympics will be an Olympics like no other. Its use of a wide range of venues across the capital makes it unique and every spectator in central London will never be more than 30 minutes away from an Olympic venue.

Within the capital there are three Olympic zones: the Olympic Park at Stratford, where the lion's share of the events will take place; the River Zone located on the River Thames centred around Greenwich; the Central Zone encompasses Hyde Park, Horse Guards Parade, the Mall and Lord's Cricket Ground.

LondonTown.com has information on all the London Olympics venues to help spectators distinguish between events and arenas. It has produced a handy downloadable map detailing all the arenas and the events that will be held at each. You can find out more on LondonTown.com.

Transforming the once run-down Stratford area of East London the Olympic Park comprises the Olympic Stadium, Velodrome and Aquatics Centre. These permanent venues will host some of the most popular Olympic events and will leave a lasting legacy on London for future generations to enjoy. Impermanent venues such as the Basketball Arena, Hockey Centre and Water Polo Arena will add to the lively, sporting feel of the region. Additionally, the Olympic Park is now home to the largest urban park created in Europe for more than 150 years.

The River Zone boasts a scattering of venues on both sides of the River Thames around Greenwich. On the south side of the river, the World Heritage Site of Greenwich Park, North Greenwich Arena and the Royal Artillery Barracks will each host shooting and equestrian events. On the northern side of the river, the North Greenwich Arena O2 and the ExCel Centre will host basketball and gymnastics among other sports.

The Central Zone will combine sightseeing with show-stopping sporting entertainment. For example, Horse Guards Parade will become a beach volleyball venue; Hyde Park will host triathlon and marathon swimming; Lord's Cricket Ground will host archery and The Mall will see spectacular finishes of Road Cycling events and the marathons.
