LONDON, April 27, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- South London's best museum is heating up for a thrilling 2015 summer season that will celebrate Africa's rich cultural influence on London. African Summer at the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill will feature a number of events that will provide perfect entertainment for visitors to the popular museum and garden. For more information about London events taking place this summer, see LondonTown.com, London's best website for visitors to the capital. It contains regularly updated information on London events, as well as the latest news on cheap London hotels, featuring up-to-the-minute updates on room rates and availability.

The African Summer season will showcase a variety of London-based artists, whose work will reveal the diversity of people, art forms, ideas and traditions inspired by this vast continent and its diaspora.Throughout July and August, the Horniman will host live music, photography, museum displays, film and dance. This will include carnival parades and Afro-jazz picnics, as well as African-inspired family favourites such as arts and crafts, object-handling and storytelling. The first event is Africa Dance! on 5th July, a glorious day of dance and cross-arts performances delivered in partnership with the Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD) and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance programme, as part of Bloom Festival.

The summer season has been designed to complement the Horniman's African Worlds gallery, along with a temporary display by the Windrush Foundation and a photo-documentary exhibition of images of women in Sierra Leone. African Summer will also feature works by artists and performers specially commissioned by the Horniman, thanks to bursaries made possible by Arts Council England's Grants for the arts programme. The Horniman Museum also features extensive gardens to explore, as well as world-class natural history collections, musical instruments from around the world and a small aquarium.
